Art in Context: Revolutionary Encounters; European Art of the French Revolution and Beyond (2 of 6-part series)

Jacques Louis David and the French Revolution: The work of Jacques-Louis David will become synonymous with the ideals of the French Revolution. In the hands of David, Neoclassicism was appropriated and put into the service of progressive social ideas influenced by the principles of Enlightenment thinkers. We will consider David’s major works and place them within the context of the revolution.Presented by Annalee Andres, art historian.
