Directions & Parking

The Bowers Museum

is located at the corner of 20th & Main Streets in Santa Ana - one minute from the 5 freeway, (Main St. South exit) and just minutes from the 57, 55 and 22 freeways.

Kidseum

is located on the corner of 18th and Main Streets - south of the main Bowers Museum. Parking is available in a well-lighted conveniently located area, adjacent to the Museum. Wheelchair accessible.

Parking

Parking Lots are available directly north and south of the museum for a $6 fee. Nearby metered and timed street parking is also available. Bowers Museum Members have the exclusive opportunity to purchase an Annual Parking Pass for $20.

Public Transportation

The bus line servicing the Bowers Museum and Kidseum is the OCTA bus number 53. Metrolink and Amtrak trains stop at the Anaheim Station (3.5 miles from the museum), and the Santa Ana Station (1.7 miles from the museum).

Santa is Coming to Town

The Reindeer are busy napping this week preparing for their big night. Santa will roll up to Kidseum on his motorcycle at 1 PM each day (December 19,20,21,22) while the children wait excitedly outside for his arrival. Children will have the opportunity to sit on Santa’s lap on his red Wells Fargo Wagon and fly around the world on the Green Screen Time Machine. Don’t forget to bring your camera for still shots and videos!

Wine, Oaxacan Art, and El Mariachi Zacatecas

 

Thirsty First Thursdays is alive and well after hibernating through January, and now we're ready for a red hot February! Highlighting the exhibition The Red that Colored the World, this event will feature demonstrations and art for sale by acclaimed Oaxaca artisans, live mariachi music, and a Tangata happy hour! 

Over the course of the evening, engage in a clay art workshop with Fernando Peguero and Magdalena Pedro Martinez, witness a cochineal dyeing demonstration in a conversation with Porfirio Gutiérrez, and explore other art demonstrations by Julia Fuentes, Jose Juan Melchor and Yesenia Salgado, who will all have art for sale. Indulge in a red wine at Tangata and enjoy the sounds of Santa Ana favorites El Mariachi Zacatecas!

5:30pm - 7pm: Clay art workshop with Fernando Peguero and Magdalena Pedro Martinez

7pm - 8pm: A Conversation with Porfirio Gutiérrez: In this conversation led by Steve Thompson, Porfirio Gutiérrez will discuss his artistic process and vision as a Zapotec weaver as well as what it's like to carry on on his family's artistic traditions in a modern world. In addition, Porfirio will present a modified cochineal dyeing demonstration.

SPECIAL HOLIDAYS HOURS.

The Bowers Museum will be open 10am to 2pm on December 24 and 31, 2017 in observance of the holiday season.
