Upcoming Exhibitions
California Gold
Opening February 25, 2012
A major exhibition highlighting the stunning beauty of ``native`` gold as found in some of California`s most important historic mines. These incredible gold specimens are augmented by important historic gold rush memorabilia that help put in context the importance that gold played in the early history of California. From the world renowned collection of Dona and Wayne Leicht of Laguna Beach, California.
Sacred Gold: Pre-hispanic Art of Colombia
Opening March 31 through July 1, 2012
Pre-hispanic gold, on loan from the renowned Museo del Oro and the Banco de Republica, Bogotá, Colombia. National treasures and more than two hundred exquisite gold figures and ornaments in this stunning exhibition give testament to the unparalleled mastery of gold, considered a gift of the gods.
In conjunction with this exhibit, the Bowers will have on display an ornately carved emerald rosary recovered from the sunken Spanish warship, the `` Nuestra Señora di Atocha.`` During the 1600s the Spanish conquerors of the New World shipped tons of gold, silver and coper back to their mother country. This treasure had been in its underwater tomb for over 350 years.

``Where`s Jarry?`` at Disneyland
Jarry is on the loose AGAIN! And this time everyone’s favorite terra cotta warrior will be at Disneyland. That’s right, DISNEYLAND! With the princes and princesses, talking animals, fairies, villains—he’ll be there.
But that’s not all… This time the “Where’s Jarry?” sweepstakes is taken to a whole new level. If you find yourself among princesses and talking animals and, above all, at Disneyland next Monday or Wednesday, you have the chance to get free tickets to our spectacular exhibit, Warriors, Tombs and Temples!
Here’s how it works: Step 1. Go to Disneyland next Monday or Wednesday (January 23 or 25). Step 2. Find Jarry. He’s performing somewhere on Disneyland grounds. Here’s where scavenger hunt skills come in handy. Step 3. Take a photo or video of Jarry at Disneyland. Step 4. Post your photo of Jarry to the Bowers Museum Facebook page or post your video and tag “Bowers Museum.” The first 10 people to post their photos or videos of Jarry at Disneyland will each receive two FREE tickets to Warriors, Tombs and Temples. Only one Jarry photo/video per household will be accepted for the prize. Are you up for the challenge? Go find Jarry!
