Enjoy a spotlight performance by the world`s oldest and internationally renowned collegiate a cappella group, The Yale Whiffenpoofs.
About the Whiffenpoofs
Every year, 14 senior Yale men are selected to be in the Whiffenpoofs, the world`s oldest and best-known collegiate a cappella group. Founded in 1909, the ``Whiffs`` began as a senior quartet that met for weekly concerts at Mory`s Temple Bar, the famous Yale tavern. Today, the group has become one of Yale`s most celebrated traditions and have established themselves as an a cappella icon, having performed for a variety of U.S. Presidents and on popular television programs such as The West Wing, Saturday Night Live, Jeopardy!, Gilmore Girls, and FOX Network's Glee!

PERFORMANCE: ISN IT ROMANTIC?

Juilliard-trained pianist Beth Sussman presents a program of European Romantic composers including Chopin, Brahms and Schumann as well as music from the Great American Songbook, paying tribute to European cities, including Gershwin's "A Foggy Day in London Town,” Cole Porter's "I Love Paris,” and Jerome Kern's , "The Last Time I Saw Paris." Beth offers humorous and insightful commentary between selections for everyone’s enjoyment.

Soundscapes: Presented by The Vanguard University Guitar Ensemble
Under the direction of Dr. Greg Glancey and Michael Anthony Nigro, the ensemble will perform pieces that range from festive holiday classics, to spicy Latin tunes, to French impressionistic pieces. The sound of the guitar ensemble can best be described as an orchestra of guitars, unamplified and expressing every possible tone, timbre and nuance from the instrument. The Vanguard University Guitar Ensemble is a fresh and exciting experience for the ears, mind and soul.
