Kidseum Cultural Art Trunks
Kidseum Cultural Art Trunks are designed to create a mini-gallery in your classroom. The trunks include materials related to their theme such as hands-on art objects, lesson plans, videos, and books. Individual trunk themes include: Mexican American, Chinese, Ancient Egyptian, African and others. Kidseum Cultural Art Trunks are available for a fee of $40 per week. Kidseum School and Community Presentations

SCOUT GROUPS
Troops fulfill cultural arts badge requirements with special art projects and presentations. A specific list is available. Staff can also customize an art project to fit a troop's needs. Please call Cynthia Callard at 714.480.1524 for more information.
SCHOOL OUTREACH
The Bowers Museum Docent Guild gives free one-hour classroom presentations that enhance the students' curriculum and understanding with hands-on activities, museum artifacts and photographs. Each Outreach program is designed, formatted and presented in a manner that captures one of the exciting exhibits at the Museum. School Outreach is only available for schools in Orange County.

| 3 | First Footsteps Learn about the lifestyle, dress, tools, homes, hunting, trade and arts and crafts of the first Southern Californians through artifacts, photographs and hands-on articles. |
| 3-4 | Orange County Then and Now Explore the colorful and diverse history of the people who settled the west coast and Orange County. Learn about the Indians, the Mission and Rancho Periods, the Gold Rush and the Railroad Era to modern times. |
| 3-5 | Coastal Habitat (Tide Pools of Orange County) Explore the animals and plants found in Orange County tide pools. Learn how the Southern California Indians used these coastal riches as a source of food, tools and decoration. |
| 4 | Off to the Gold Rush! Learn about the people who came to work in the gold mines during the California Gold Rush from 1849 through the 1850s. Slides, artifacts and hands-on articles help students to get a real feel for the period. |
| 5 | Spirit of the Southwest This presentation covers the Indians of the Four Corners area of the American Southwest and is tied to environmental factors. It illustrates the continuing thread of artistic styles and functions of baskets, pottery, jewelry and more, from traditional days through decades of culture contact with the "white man." |
| All Grades | Masks Around the World Discover how masks are used for disguise, protection, adornment, entertainment and ceremonies in cultures around the world. Learn through slides, artifacts and collection of many masks. |
