Fabergé: Imperial Jeweler to the Tsars
Friday, June 22, 2012
On Friday, June 22, 2012, nearly 1,500 Bowers Museum members enjoyed the opening celebration of “Fabergé: Imperial Jeweler to the Tsars”. Members were privileged to see the exhibition in an extended format from 12 NOON to 8 PM. Tim Adams, art historian and guest scholar for the Faberge exhibition, presented two lectures in the Norma Kershaw Auditorium on the fascinating story of Maria Pavlovna and the treasures that can be found in the current exhibition. A film entitled “The Czar’s Faberge Eggs”, which is for sale in the gallery store, was screened in the Kershaw Auditorium at two separate times to provide the history behind the eggs. Light refreshments were provided by Melissa’s Produce and Coca-Cola throughout the day. The Kidseum education staff provided members with a hands on family art project where they created their own Faberge eggs to take home. The Bowers closed out the evening celebration with a presentation of classical Russian music by the Philharmonic Society.
