Cinema Italiano: Life Is Beautiful (1997, 122 min)

Life is Beautiful is a comedy-drama directed by and starring Roberto Benigni, who co-wrote the film with Vincenzo Cerami. Inspired by the book In the End, I Beat Hitler, Benigni plays Guido Orefice, a Jewish Italian bookshop owner who employs his fertile imagination to shield his son from the horrors of internment in a Nazi concentration camp.

Do you love attending Cinema Italiano but don’t love the subtitles? Arrive early for basic Italian language classes led by Petra Petry, a Professor of Italian at community colleges around Southern California. Classes and screenings will take place in the Norma Kershaw Auditorium.
