Timeless Melodies: Roaring 20’s: Ain’t We Got Fun

Presented by Larry Maurer, historian of the Timeless Melodies Foundation for Education, Inc.

As vaudeville declined, America’s young and soon-to-be legendary composers, George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Rodgers & Hart & Oscar Hammerstein, II, revitalized the Broadway musical. It was the age of gaudy spending and carefree living with songs like Has Anybody Seen My Gal? and Show Boat, the most ambitious Broadway musical with songs like Ol Man River. Join your favorite host as he takes you on a musical tour through the era of the flappers and sheiks, the Harlem Renaissance, the Charleston and the Black Bottom. Revisit the music and stories of Al Jolson, Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, Marilyn Miller, Fred & Adele Astaire, and the great romantic songs of the 20s!
