Gayle Garner Roski: The Gift of Los Angeles with Mr. Jean Stern

Gayle Garner Roski (1941-2020) was a nationally-known painter in watercolor. Her work centers on everyday life and treasures from around the world, painted in a gentle and affectionate manner. Viewers feel comfortable and joyful looking at her paintings. A popular and successful artist, Roski was also a prize-winning illustrator of seven children’s books.
Gayle’s last major undertaking was the “The Gift of Los Angeles,” a work of love for her native city. The set of forty-four watercolor paintings, which took twenty years to complete, shows sites and places she loved throughout the Southland, from Downtown Los Angeles to the San Fernando Valley and Orange County.
Join Mr. Stern, Director Emeritus of The Irvine Museum and author who was a friend and admirer of the late artist, as he discusses the remarkable events of Gayle Garner Roski’s life and many of the paintings on display in the exhibit, “The Gift of Los Angeles.”
