Virtual Books at Bowers: The Last Painting of Sarah De Vos

The August Book Club selection is entitled The Last Painting of Sarah De Vos by Dominic Smith, 304 pages. The author “…deftly bridges the historical and the contemporary, tracking a collision course between a rare landscape by a female Dutch painter of the golden age, an inheritor of the work in 1950s Manhattan, and a celebrated art historian who painted a forgery of it in her youth.” (NYTimes, April 2016) In celebration of women artists, this book is paired with the newest exhibit, The Gift of Los Angeles: Memories in Watercolor by Gayle Garner Roski.

Please note Thursday’s discussion will be in person at the museum and Saturday’s discussion will be held virtually on Zoom.
