Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo

SUNDAY | MAY 5 | 11 AM – 3 PM

Do you know the real meaning behind Cinco de Mayo? It isn’t Mexico’s Independence Day, it’s a celebration in honor of Mexico's victory over the armed forces of the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, led by General Ignacio Zaragoza. Join us this Cinco de Mayo for live performances by Los Cuates, Relampago Del Cielo Ballet Folklorico, and the exciting sounds of Mariachi Anacatlan. Enjoy free face painting, art projects including mini piñatas and clay animalitos, and delight in samples of pan dulce.

Don’t miss a special student exhibition of artwork from Garden Grove Unified School District! Additional funding is provided by Specified General Fund for the Museum Grant Program under the California Cultural and Historical Endowment. This event is held in conjunction with the 2024 Imagination Celebration.
