Norma Kershaw Auditorium | Onsite Book Discussion & Tour
For Bowers Members Only: A Book Club Experience
Books at Bowers: Touring Through the Pages is a Bowers Docent Guild sponsored book club that pairs a topical book with a museum art experience.
"The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting." – Sun Tzu
The August book selection is The Art of War, the famous ancient Chinese classic written by Sun Tzu, the Chinese general and philosopher who lived during the Zhou Dynasty. More than 2000 years old, The Art of War still resonates in today’s contemporary world and is one of the most influential books of military strategy ever written. The book is still read and studied worldwide in military academies and corporate boardrooms. The book lays out a systematic, rational approach to the strategies, tactics and philosophy that leaders have studied in the military, business, politics, law, martial arts and even sports. Several versions and translations are available, but the text in the various editions is the same.
“There is no instance of a nation benefitting from prolonged warfare.” — Sun Tzu
Following the in-person discussion is a docent-led tour of World of Terracotta Warriors: New Archaeological Discoveries in Shaanxi in the 21st Century.
Admission is free and space is limited to 30 Bowers Museum members. A confirmation email will be sent to participants prior to the event.
