Taiwanese Comic Power: Being Visible and Embracing the World
Visiting direct from Southern France, join Asian Comics featured artist Li-Chin Lin as she discusses her artwork and career including being a cartoonist in France and curator of a comic art festival in Taiwan in a conversation with Bowers’ Chief Curator, Tianlong Jiao.
Born in Taiwan, Li-Chin Lin left the island to study art in France at the École Supérieure de l'Image in Angoulême, and then enrolled in the Poudrière Animation Film School in Valence. After making short animated films, she turned to comics in 2002. She is the author of three graphic novels, two children’s books, and many fanzines.

About the Artist:
Li-Chin Lin was born in Taiwan in 1973. She left the island to study art in France at the Ecole Supérieure de l’Image in Angoulême, and then enrolled in the Poudrière school for animation in Valence. After making short animated films, she turned to comics in 2002. She has published in many fanzines in France and in Europe, and has produced two children’s books. "Formosa", her first graphic novel was published in France in 2011 and in Taiwan in 2013. It won the High School students of the Paris area litterature award in 2012. Her second graphic novel, "Fudafudak" was released in France in 2017. "Goán tau, my home" is her third graphic novel, it's released in France in 2021.
