The Bowers Museum Comic Art Expo is a vibrant festival of comic artistry and pop culture. This free two-day event promises to be a dynamic gathering for comic enthusiasts, artists, and collectors alike, in celebration of our current exhibit, Asian Comics: Evolution of an Art Form. The Comic Art Expo will feature a variety of artists, live DJs, and family-friendly activities.

During the Expo, arrive in cosplay* to get FREE General Admission, and gain exclusive access to Asian Comics for just $10! Join us for a season of color, creativity, and community!

Schedule of Events for Saturday

10 am - 4pm:

• Sculpture garden: Enjoy a beverage and snack while DJs spin music. Featured DJs include:
  • 10 am – 12 pm | DJ Phantasea
  • 12 – 2 pm | Moon in Gemini
  • 2 – 4 pm | Mesmé
• Dog cosplay welcome in our outdoor spaces!
• Key Courtyard: all day face painting, art activities, candy sculptures, artist open forum discussions, comic book bargain bins & treasure dive. Dog cosplay welcome in our outdoor spaces!

11 - 11:40 am:

• Auditorium: Screening of an interview with Filipino artist Carlo Vergara, who is featured in our current exhibition, Asian Comics: Evolution of an Art Form

1 - 1:30 pm:

• Presentation: “Pinoy Komiks,” which discusses the importance of comics in Filipino culture

2:30 - 4 pm:

• Animated shorts film screening, including a sizzle real of Carlo Vergara’s animated feature of his blockbuster character, Zsazsa Zaturnnah

4 pm - 9 pm: Drop-in Expo Afterparty: 4th Street Market's back patio with beats by DJ Ruben Salazar, CEO of Blue Lot Gallery

About DJ Mesmé:

Drawing inspiration from her favorite crime fiction and neo-noir films, Mesmé's entrance into the City of Angels from the Midwest via Singapore created a rapid buzz in the LA underground, thanks to her vinyl-heavy sets, striking selections, and ability to build an intoxicating vibe from the ground up. Resident DJ at Into The Woods (Los Angeles) and Dublab Radio.
